CGG Remembrance Weekend Activities, November 11th to November 13th, 2022

The Lieutenant-Colonel Commanding and the Regimental Sergeant-Major look forward to seeing everyone once again as the Regiment marks the act of Remembrance during the month of November.  This year the Regiment will support and host a series of Remembrance Day Activities on November 11, 12, and 13 respectively.

Please advise, regimental.events@cgg.ca if you will be participating in the following events noted below,

Saturday morning Memorial Service of Remembrance,

Saturday afternoon Museum special presentation,

Sunday if you are marching with the regiment on parade, attending the service at the Cathedral, Sunday JF Young VC gathering and if you are dropping by for lunch.  We need to ensure the proper resources in place for success.

Friday morning, November 11th, 2022, The Regiment will stand-up a 50-person guard and take part in the annual ceremony with the Royal Canadian Legion, and all units in the Montreal area.   Everyone is invited to participate as spectators in remembrance of our fallen Comrad’s.  The parade will take place at Place du Canada and spectators are asked to arrive for 10:30hrs, the ceremony commences with the arrival of the parade at 10:45hrs.

Friday evening, November 11th, 2022, join the Association and members of the Serving Battalion for a pub night!  Open to all.  At the time of this posting location and time has not been released.  The Association will announce both the location and time via Facebook on their link.

Saturday morning, November 12th, 2022, all members of the Association and their families are invited to join the Serving Battalion on the parade square in a Memorial Service of Remembrance.  The Memorial Service will take place between 10:00hrs and 12:00hrs.

Saturday afternoon, November 12th, 2022, all members of the Association, Friends of the Regiment and their families are invited to join the Museum in a special presentation by Michel Gravel, an Author and Historian focusing on WWI.  His presentation will be on the battles of the Arras-Cambrai Road, France, 1918.  With a particular focus on the 87th Battalion (The Canadian Grenadier Guards).  The presentation starts at 13:30hrs.  Questions are welcome.

Sunday morning, November 13th, 2022, reinforcing our links with our Regimental Church, Christ Church Cathedral, the entire Regimental Family, spouses, children and friends, are invited to join in an official service of remembrance.  Everyone is asked to be seated no later than 10:15hrs sharp inside the Cathedral.

Veterans and members of the Association who wish to lead the Regiment to the Cathedral, on parade, are asked to arrive at the Home Station for 09:00hrs.  A bus for those who will be on parade will take participants to the parade start off point.  Due to the major construction around the downtown core near the Cathedral this location will be determined on Sunday morning.  Dress for the Veterans and members of the Association is Jacket and Regimental Tie, Medals and Beret can be worn.

Sunday morning, November 13th, 2022, following the Service of Remembrance at the Cathedral, Serving Members of the JF Young VC Club, Veterans and members of the Association will be transported to the grave site of JF Young VC for the traditional gathering in his memory.

Immediately following this gathering upon return to the Home Station, a light lunch will be served in respective Messes.  All are welcome to join, including family members and friends who joined us this day.
